Media Reform wishes you a very happy new year – a year that will be marked by more misreporting, more misrepresenting, more marginalising and more monopolising by corporate media. We heard during the Christmas break from outgoing Ofcom boss Ed Richards that he was ‘surprised’ by the level of informality between government ministers and News Corp executives during the latter’s attempted takeover of BSkyB in 2011. We shouldn’t be surprised any longer – we should be angry about a system of ownership that distorts public debate and fails to hold power to account because these companies are part of elite power.

Media Reform has been funded to campaign on media ownership throughout 2015 and, with that in mind, we are holding a public organising meeting to introduce the campaign and to hear from you about how best to take these issues forward. Please join us and tell your friends as well:

6-8pm on Wednesday 21 January in room 112, 43 Gordon Square, Bloomsbury, London WC1H 0PD
