
The announcement by 21st Century Fox of its intention to buy out Sky Plc has regenerated concerns about media plurality and concentration in the UK. A new report produced by the Media Reform Coalition in conjunction with Avaaz, argues that, under the current legislative framework, there is an unprecedented case for intervention on plurality grounds and that the competition authorities should reject the acquisition in order to safeguard plurality. The data contained within the report strongly suggest that should the deal be allowed to progress, it will result in an unparalleled accumulation of media power in the hands of one family, posing a grave threat to media plurality in Britain for generations to come.

I think it’s best for everyone in this country to be given factual non bias news. It’s practically impossible to get. The BBC is the worst that I have watched it boils my blood as people will make political choices on manipulated information from these mainstream broadcasters.
The vast majority of people have little time in their busy day to day life to spend hours trying to find and determine the facts from various sources. We need news that will help us make an informed decisions when we are having breakfast or a ten minute break during work or whenever we got a few free minutes. Things need to change.
