A Manifesto for Media Reform

May 10, 2017 By Media Reform Coalition

The Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom, together with the Media Reform Coalition, have published a manifesto for media reform ahead of the general election on 8 June. Reflecting on who we can turn to to find out the truth about our public affairs, the manifesto tables demands concerning

  • Media ownership
  • Independent and effective self-regulation of the press
  • Well-funded, independent public service media
  • Protection for communication rights.

You can read the full manifesto here.

So it’s OK for obscenely rich people to go on pumping out right-wing propaganda in the interests of the rich and powerful, so long as no individual plutocrat owns too many newspapers and tv and radio stations?

With friends like you lot, I don’t think those of us who want all big media operations collectively owned and controlled by ordinary people need any enemies.
